The peculiarity of kratom that sets it apart from all other kinds of narcotics and opiates is its ability to establish a very severe psycho-physiological stimulation. In lieu, this herbal medicine is known for its potentiality to bring about an organic boost to both, the mind and the body.
Kratom strains have been segregated into different categories based mainly on their efficacy, characteristic effects, the persistence of the effect, and general experience. It is obvious that every user has their own need and hence their favorites. And a lot of factors are to be taken into consideration to understand why the different strains affect every user differently. Some of the major factors being the body chemistry, resistance, quality of the product, and dosage. However, some available widely known kratom products seem to surpass these specific aspects and undeniably impart effective results in a broad spectrum of users.
The Stimulant effect
The stimulating strains of kratom are the most widely used type and are known to deliver the following effects to the users:
- An emotional state of euphoria and enthusiasm
- An intensified mental focus
- Symptoms of depression are banished
- A sense of inspiration and motivation to seize the day with zeal
- Eradication of a sense of worries
- Creativity flourishes
- A wealth of sensations experienced
- Athletic conduct is reinforced
- Chronic pain or rigidity fades
- Muscles feel composed and flexible
- An intensified sexual desire and greater stamina
Two such stimulating strains are the Thai kratom strain and the Maeng da kratom strain which are discussed in depth below.
Thai kratom
Thai kratom is popular for its dynamic, energetic effects. It has an exclusive alkaloid profile that often aggravates divergent reactions in different users, and hence is not a choice opted by everyone.T hey are known to be a little more dissociating, which imparts them the ability to transmit considerable pain relief and evoke extra euphoria. The pain-killing effects are fluctuating. Red vein Thai (also known as RVT) is the most compelling choice in terms of analgesia. White and Green vein Thai strains, on the other hand, are great for stimulation and fighting depression, but are incompetent when it comes to pain relief. Comparatively, Thai Kratom is fairly cheap. However, it is commonly mislabeled and is a global term for generic strains. The following sums up the effects of this type of kratom:
- Relaxing – very effective (4.5/6)
- Pain relieving – effective (4/6)
- Mood enhancing – most effective (6/6)
- Stimulating – less effective (2/6)
Maeng da kratom
This one has its roots in Thailand and is known to be the strongest strain available. ‘Maeng da kratom’ in Thai means‘Pimp’s Grade’ which means the strongest strain. Maeng Da Kratom seems to be somewhat like Bali kratom but has stronger energizing effects. People who prefer a very energizing strain that can also efficiently work as a pain reliever, opt for this one.
It is extremely elevating in terms of both vitality and temperament and therefore is frequently used as an efficiency promoter instead of caffeine. It is known to have a rather brief duration of more profound effects. Most of the users feel these effects with only a small dosage.
At low doses, it doesn’t usually act as an effective pain killer, but at high doses, it has proved to be extremely sedating by decreasing the pain and regulating anxiety. For a more comprehensive experience, it is best to merge this highly persuasive strain with some other strains to stabilize the effects. Following gives the overview of the intensity of the various effects imparted by this type:
- Relaxing – somewhat effective (3/6)
- Pain relieving – effective (4/6)
- Mood enhancing – effective (4/6)
- Stimulating – very effective (5/6)

Does MD have a meaning or it’s just used for marketing purposes? I’ve seen some strains called MD but then some places just seem to attach MD to other strains.
nowadays I think it’s used for marketing. They use it to label stimulant batches with different colors.
Back in the days, MD was attached to strains that were considered the strongest, it means pimp grade.
There are many stories about Maeng Da. Some people considered Maeng Da to be kratom with horned leaves. It seem more like a marketing term than an actual strain.

MD is grafted tree. Creating a more mature alkaloid profile by cutting and replanting.
Don’t they diagonal cut two trees and implant the cutting into the other tree?
I think MD means less stem in the starins after product is finished.
It just means pimp grade.
A vendor once told me the terms used now to describe really great blends. However, back then it was used to describe the strongest strain offered by each seller. The term, Maeng Da literally translates to “pimp grade” or “pimp quality”.
Has anyone notice a difference in taste with the WMD or other strains? Is it one of the qualities all Maend Da strains carry?
I’ve had this WMD for some time, I noticed it’s taste is more bitter than other greens or reds I’ve had. It’s also more bitter than a White Malay strain I’ve had. The Elephant White Thai taste isn’t bitter also compared with the rest of strains I’ve tried in the past.
Yes, WMD has a bad taste. Have you tried mixing the strain with honey?
The nastier the taste, the better the effects are
Same thing I figured, but this new stuff is supposed to be Elephant. Shouldn’t it be a stronger strain?
It feels stronger.
I never tried using honey but make a tea let it cool down and it helps to combat the taste.
The taste doesn’t really bother me, but I started considering whether the Elephant strain might be stronger.
Hard to come to a conclusion because both the strains are great.
Is it possible that the Maeng Da can be bitter and still doesn’t have strong effects?
Yes Maeng Da srains are a lot more bitter. I thought it might have just been that particular batch, but others agree.
